Blowing off your plans to let someone else (i.e; your partner) go ahead with THEIR plans and be successful makes you look weak.
Not to mention that like 60% of marriages end up badly nowadays...and if you have a kid/kids down the road, you can't just collect child support-- it doesn't cut it anymore with the cost of a child.
