It's super easy to make a neopets account through facebook from what I hear and from my experience with other sites facebook can make registering as easy as username, password, confirm password, done. Take 5 minutes and make a fake facebook account, then you can do whatever to change your details once you have your account. For people who have "epic" names, I can almost guarantee you that they are not available because they are being used on some other Nickelodean Virtual Worlds site or simply in the process of being purged.

It's been happening a lot with the awesome named accounts that recently purged. Some of them have an account still active on the same email or it might have a petpet park account attached to that name.
Sorry if this has been said already, but I've heard it has to do with recently purged accounts or something. Like the Username is the problem. Just delete your cookies if it won't let you redo the username, and try a diff username.
Many purged usernames have not been released by TNT yet, so if your sister is trying to create an account on the list that TNT hasn't released, then that's why it won't work.
If you're trying to make an account with a really nice name/a name that recently purged chances are you can't register it. This happened a lot after the purge when people were trying to snap up newly freed usernames, the signup process will work up until you have to put in your email then you get an error. I opened a ticket about it before and TNT responded basically saying that those usernames are purged but not open to be re-registered and their solution was to just pick a different username.
It really sucks because there's some nice ones I want that are stuck in limbo. One person on another forum once recommended to me that you can sign up for the username on monkeyquest or petpetpark since the usernames are the same on there and neo to try and reserve it for yourself when it's freed up on neopets.com, but chances are it might already be registered there.
