    Online Portfolio help

    Hello alll!
I haven't been active much in clraik beside from the trading forum in a while :o

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me start my online portfolio?
I want to make a portfolio to display my graphics so I can start making some money : ))

(you need an account to see links) that I want to use (I'm probably going to stick pretty close to the template for now at least) but I have NO idea where to start with making the website. I downloaded a template and i got several
I know how to code, but I haven't coded in a long time, a few months. I usually hand-coded most of my layouts p:

So what I need help with:
Before all else, I want to find a web hosting service? I might start out with a free one (really, I doubt i'd even have more than 5 separate pages?) but I need to have my own domain. I was thinking 000webhosting but I'm not sure what I should look for with a hosting service?
I don't know how to use the template either. I vaguely remember having a lame guild freewebs page. I believe I'm supposed to upload the .html files from the template download, change the images and the content? Is there a more efficient way of doing this? I've read about FTP clients but i'm not sure how to use them either.

Anyway, I'm eager to learn whatever I have to (I have the time, now that it's spring break as well) and I'd really appreciate all the help I could get. If anyone wants to add me on skype just let me know.

    Thanks again, clraik community!

000webhosting is great for free websites, there aren't very many ads, if any at all and it's free!
    I've used it several times.
Besides being free, it can handle php, which is major for portfolios.
I am not sure if you can use javascript mind you, so youd have to double check with that.

The easiest way to upload any site is via FTP.
FTP is really easy to use.
I recommend filezilla and here is a guide explain how to use it: (you need an account to see links)
FTP allows you to upload the files directly from your computer to the website. So any editing of the website can be done directly from your computer.
To update the website you would need to load up your ftp program and upload the file and boom, your website is edited.

If you have more questions feel free to PM me. <3

thanks to both of you : )

i've thought about using DW (i've loaded in once in my like, like 7 years ago? It looked really complicated)
I don't think i ever worked towards learning how to use DW because I was mostly coding neopages and neo always has funky rules for coding, but i'll probably check dreamweaver out once i set up the foundation of the website

    ugh please dont use dreamweaver.
its a horrible program imo and not at all worth it.

Id rather teach you how to code from scratch then let you use that program.
    xD

Whats wrong with dreamweaver? I would never pay for it or any adobe product.

Admittedly I only use it to make html outputs for my php print functions... lol. But it is a easy way to dive into html.

I just really dislike the program and the code that it uses.
its confusing and most of the code isnt needed.

I find it just as easy to code from scratch.

Fair enough , html is not my strong point , well more specifically c.s.s is not so I am no expert on it. I tend to use free html templates and just wrap my php functions around it , noob I know but I am just not very creative when it comes to art/layout ect xD.

Edit: Also dreamweaver is a bit confusing , I was introduced to it about 12 years ago though I got version 5 free on a magazine in the u.k as a demo and played with it for a long time and used pretty much every version since. When adobe took it over from macromedia things got alot more confusing and all the usual floating menu crap lol.
