Maybe it's because you were her lover AND bestfriend at the sametimes? Even if she doesn't have an intime relationship with you anymore, it doesn't mean she's ready to let her friend go.
But that's my opinion... or maybe she's just a creeper
I am kind of sort of I occasionally talk to friends with my exes and thats that
Your ex-girlfriend just want to cause to separate from your roommate and make you jealous, just saying
this happened to me year ago, and ends bad
They probably band together for group therapy or emotional support?
Enemy of thy enemy and all that.
But really, girls dont have a code after breakups i've seen.
I think I told you this already but my ex goes around telling people I used to rape her.
The other one before her wanted to get married, I wasnt even fuckin 20 at that point, and she got her friends to egg my dads car.
DEM GURLS B3 CRAYYYYYYY

I guess you're looking for a legit answer. From my perspective:
More or less what @(you need an account to see links) said. To expand on it,
girls are more emotional and sociable than guys. So they get together with other recent exes, since they're on the same wavelengths and are most akin to your ex; type of thoughts and such. They use this similarity to their advantage, supporting one another, thoughts like "Oh my god! That's exactly how I feel. OMG we're like sisters!", much like the relationship a mom has with a daughter. Then they scheme against guys and bash them together, forming a confidence-security blanket. "I totally dig you girl, that guy was such an ass, like my former ass too! OMG XOXOXO KISS KISS"
If a straight guy tries to hit his homies like that, they'd just say, "Damn bro, you gay."
-It's like when 2 guys have a problem, they go SSJ and whomp until one is down or they're both done. Then they give dirty looks and walk away, leaving the beef on the ground.
-But when girls get slammed, they're probably not going to throw a Spirit Bomb and leave it at that. So they proceed emotionally, and socially with others to get shit off their chests.

It's because we hate our ex's and we like bashing them.
It's fun to hate on someone who broke your heart after they're gone for good, and it's even better to have people around that have mutual feelings.
Theres the Mod answer I was waiting for. I agree.
And @(you need an account to see links) , you answered all questions I had with that simple post.
