Muslims ?

I like 'em, like everyone else that isn't a douche.

Religion shouldn't be a barrier to relationships and society as long as we're all understanding and welcoming of those not like our own. Diversity is the future, we would still be clubbing prey-animals with rocks and paddling boats across the ocean with our hands without learning and loving other cultures/religions.

But back to your topic on Muslims; they get a bad rap and negative stereotype from the media, unfortunately a lot of citizens are dependent on what they tell us. But those 'extremist' Muslims are just a tiny fraction of Islam and have gravely misinterpreted their religion's teachings. Hence the higher ups of Islam and I'd say the majority of Muslims denounce them. Their religion is actually very respectable, very clean, and friendly.

The 'terrorists' you hear about on the news are just like white supremacists - just a small crazy offshoot of Christians and Catholics. But because most of us are living in the Western world, that news goes unreported to keep things in the status quo. Just like on the other side of the world, news of white supremacists gets blown up. It's sad, because this is how people gain negative perceptions of others and perpetuates the hate.

well said Mod i think you just about hit the nail on the head, it is said what media says, and like all things they take things out of context. but wont report what goes one here in the us.

I really don't know what you mean, LOL.

And if they do, or when they do, it's not going to matter really, we're both over 18 and can make our own decisions, haha.

I guess what i was trying to say if they are rude to you now.. if he comes out to them they are likey to be more rude to ya but like you said you both are adults and can make your own choices, you only know whats in your heart and he only knows whats in his.

Well, Zayn's a Muslim so I got no hate on 'em.

In my country, there are Malays, mostly Muslims, that the general population have almost or rather zero hate on em. In fact, the Malays were the first batch of people staying on the island I call home. Then China folks came and stayed here and their descendants are still keeping the generation alive. In fact, I would say that there are about a 6:4 ratio of Chinese to Malay. Not too sure, just an estimate. So the Chinese have bonded and mixed well with the Malays, up to date. Yes, there have been racial riots in the past, but lets put that behind us.

Today, there are many cross-race marriage and its super racial harmonious here.

Welllll my best friend is Muslim, and I have another really good friend who is Muslim. Also two of my lab research assistants are Muslim.

Moreover, being Indian, although I'm supposed to have a negative disposition toward Muslims, I actually get along with them more than Hindus. *shrug*

I've never met a Muslim I didn't like, unfortunately I can't say the same about Christians. Muslims have always been pretty fair to me, Christians are always threatening me that their god is going to send me to hell to burn for eternity, or that my soul will vanish or what not.

Not to mention (well look at that... I am mentioning it) I've never had a Muslim wake me up early on a weekend morning with "after-death threats".

I've never had a problem with people who follow the Muslim faith. Well, not the ones who aren't just tools in the first place, you know?
I think in the UK there's a negative media stereotype too, such as every Muslim is a benefit thief and are only here to claim benefits from the Government etc.

Overall I don't like religion at all, but some of my Uni classmates are Muslims and they're cool with me, so I'm cool with them.

I hear ya ive had some christians say some very unchirstian things to me in my times, and they always want to push god/religion on you while muslims will talk about religion if asked, but they rarely push it, atleast ones i have known/worked with in my lifetime.

There used to be a Christian preacher outside the fast food shop where I went to college, and he'd just spout hatred at me every time I told him I don't believe in any form of God and that I dislike religion in general. Like all this stuff about me going to hell and how the devil has taken over me and stuff - I was like dude, I don't believe in a God/devil, so nope.
