    DAE take MOOCs?

I just got done taking a Highlights of Modern Astronomy course on Coursera last week, and it was the most comfortable learning experience ever. Being able to do things whenever one wants within the space of an entire week is the best! The course was 4 weeks long. There were a set of video lectures, a couple of optional exercises, and a quiz, for every week. Which I mostly did between 1am-6am on whatever day I felt like it. 0 reasons to adhere to a diurnal schedule. 0 anxiety. 0 complaints.

Passed with distinction. Now I'm just waiting on the final deadline to pass so the course record can be updated to show my achievement, and for them to mail me my certificate!

I'm ---> <--- this much closer to being on a level of awesomeness on par with my role models, namely (you need an account to see links) and (you need an account to see links).

So, have you guys taken any MOOCs? If so, what kind and where?

To take a regular online class, you usually have to be registered and have paid fees at the university that you're taking the class at. You get college credit for it, like 3 credit hours or something. Timings are usually tight, professors are generally assholes, and the class costs more than a regular class at the university.

MOOCs don't need you to be registered at a university. Literally hundreds of thousands of people can be registered for the course, and it is usually free unless you're paying for a certification (which btw doesn't hold as much weight as college credit). Workload is usually divided by the week so one has a lot of leeway to get work done, professors are generally really awesome, and well if it costs anything, it's barely a fraction of the cost per credit hour at a university.

So it's a just a class for the sake of learning something? Like you don't get college credit for it?

Because my uni's online classes have workloads divided up weekly like that and are a little bit cheaper than the brick and mortar classes..
