I personally dislike them, they detract from the usage of threads and spam my browser with pointless requests.
If it was added, I'd definitely want a way to disable it per user.
@(you need an account to see links) Hey man, been a while. How goes it?
The site looks really nice. And there's so many people here I don't know at all - which is always good.
You guys seem to be a pretty good little community here.
Have you thought of a shoutbox?
Its essentially a live chat box you can put where ever for VB.
I believe you can also hide it so unregistered members cannot see it.
I always like these cause its just a good way to chit chat without having to make
a whole new thread and spam up the sections.
If this has been suggested before and was determined a bad idea, please forgive me.
What do you guys think? I wanna hear your take on it.
And Joe, I found a cracked pro version of it.
I didn't want to link it here in case you guys aren't keen on download links from other sites.
Hit me up for link if you're interested mane.

Shoutbox kills forums imo. I've used them in all sorts of various communities and it eventually leads to dead communities because no one posts threads anymore, it's all shoutbox, all the time. I could see the trade section staying alive here, but other than that, may as well delete all the other sections when you install it. And yeah, it's not a short-term kill off, but in the long-term I guarantee that's what would happen.
I'm not sure what you mean by pointless requests.
I don't think this version sends requests.
I could be wrong though, but I'm confused as to what you mean.
Eh, I don't really believe that.
Since this is a forum based on tips and discussion, the need to keep up with who said what is very important.
A shoutbox is good for keeping people onsite while waiting for replies to their threads, which is always better for a site.
Again, I feel this would only be used for small talk.
It would be impossible for someone just logging on to know fully what everyone is talking about - thus keeping the need for real discussions to stay in thread form.
The only section I can see taking a hit from this is the spam section.
But its just my opinion.

I understand and if there are certain rules made in regards to the shoutbox, then perhaps it will be beneficial, but I remain skeptical either way.

To add to what people have already said (this has been suggested before I believe) every forum I have seen with a shoutbox has died off.

Yeah.
People will start to advertise their sales here.
Will start to troll other members.
There will always be a hated member.
Newbies will start to ask questions instead of browsing through threads...

Any questions or topics would be in the SB, which doesn't record and is too fast-paced for everyone to keep up. Anyone coming to cK a few hours/days later, or just going afk would miss the bulk of a topic conversation. The advantage to forum threads is they are archived in a sense, anyone can come in at any time and be brought up to speed.
SB also encourages idiot/spam comments. With a thread, users have at least a small sense to revise and make a polished post, most of the time. I'd imagine with SB, people would be doing a lot of "O., , ahah, ye, ok, good, nono, fuck u", etc.
Lastly, archived forum threads gives the advantage of history and a wealth of information for newcomers to find, rather than asking repetitive stuff left and right.
Aside from everything that the fellow members had said already, I would also like to point out the due to the nature of unable to archive the conversation, lot of scams occurs in SB. We are also unable to held those who are responsible for scamming other.
