    Maplestory issues :( +rep.

I downloaded the Maplestory client today so I could finally get around to playing it, and every time I input my login info, it gives me an error message saying that the connection to the server has ended. I've gone through shitloads of google results in order to solve the problem -- most of the support threads go unanswered.

I tried a winsock reset and that didn't work. I'm using the right version for my area. My internet connection is fine. I have the specs to run it. Any idea what the problem is? =/ +rep for good suggestions! <3

    If it works, then yes
I've been meaning to play it for several months, but until Christmas, I was using a netbook that the MS client wouldn't work on...so I've had to wait ;P

It's been quite a while since I last played Maplestory. If I recall correctly, after installing the client that you download, there should be a pop up that request you to update to the latest patch. Once that is done, you should be able to go into the login screen.

    Some suggestions to look into

    1) Check your router configuration. You might want to log into your router and check the page for connection/port range forwarding.

    2) If that doesn't work uninstall the maplestory client as other people have mention and reinstalling it

    3) aside from doing that (if you are a window 7+ user) go start -> type in regedit (it's registry editor) ,do a control + find (CTRL+F) and search for maplestory. It should direct you to a bunch of folders under the HKEY_class/current user/local machine/ etc. There will be a folder that has where you can edit /check the portal login.

    4) check the following sub folders C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts

Right click the host file, and open the file with a notepad.

Once open it should have something like this
    # Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.

    Check the
    line after this
"# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself."
    "# xxx.0.0.1 localhost"

This is usually the place that some system administrator goes to block a certain site
see if there are anything unnecessary or label like maplestory.

    Hope this helps

I dont know but if ALL ELSE FAILS, and you have a dynamic IP, try getting a static IP.

(You can choose your router type on the left)
