I made Guava & Bourbon pulled pork wraps for the first time tonight. Wanted to try a new recipe, something I had never had before. They turned out so delicious I had to share. They're SUPER easy to make.
Here's the recipe:
1/2 lb pulled pork
3 oz Guava Paste
Just enough oil to coat the bottom of a medium sized sauce pan
3 oz of your favorite bourbon - I just used some Jim Beam I had left over.
Put oil & guava paste into sauce pan, heat on med-high (6 out of 10 if your stove top uses a 1-10 index)
Stir continuously until guava paste has completely melted.
Once guava paste is melted, add meat to pan and stir continuously until all of meat is covered in sauce.
Add bourbon and stir until entire thing is mixed & coated well.
Remove from heat, place on wrap (or bread if you wanna do a sammich) and top with your choice of cheese. I used pepper jack & cheddar.
Serve immediately for most tongue-orgasms.
Guava paste can be found in the Hispanic section of most major grocery stores, and is pretty cheap. The pics in the spoiler are kinda big, but that's so you can get a better idea of the resulting texture. I just closed the wraps up like a burrito and enjoyed after I took these pics.
I was really glad to see this wasn't what i was expecting. the clap might make your tongue dance a bit too
Although I don't like pork, those look DELICIOUS
