I hear you get them from giftcards, I personally get them from gift box capsules. The last one in the NC mall was Raindorf Gift Box Mystery Capsule, you get like 1-2 boxes per capsule along with some random nc items. Not sure when the next gbc is due to be released though.
GBCs can be gotten in two ways:
One. Through redeeming an NC card, which can be sold in different stores like Walmart, Target, Zellers, etc...You can buy $10 NC cards online at Walmart's US store. You just pay $10 and you get the code emailed to you within 15 minutes. You get one box for every $5 you spend.
Two. Through buying GBCs, which are $2.00 (200 NC) and released at the end of every month (I'd say like starting from the 20th of a month and onward until the 1st). I really advise against doing this unless you're transferring a small number of items, the money really adds up and you only get like 1 box from it (5 if you're lucky- but I've seen people open 30 and only get 1-2 each).
Overall, the whole you-need-gbcs-to-transfer is really stupid in my opinion and just another cash cow for TNT
