I would avoid doing the transferring items through the shop method, as I've been frozen for that a few times. If it's legit/well secured, you shouldn't have issues receiving items on your main in form of gifts. It's more worth it to pay a little bit more and buy through someone like @(you need an account to see links) or @(you need an account to see links) than someone you don't know/haven't heard of.
Another good way to transfer is through the trading post. You can either bid something HTS and obscure on the item you purchased or win a 1np trade ~ Both seem fairly legit, at least moreso than you happening upon a bunch of fancy items in a shop.
Just really be careful and take your time. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

not really looking to buy atm, but considering trading nc and prepaid cards for neopoints
Even if you're trading those for nps, you still should try your best to be safe getting your nps. It's easy to get caught up in the get rich quick np game, but if you're using these nps on your main, make sure you're informed and working with a seller that has your best interests at heart.
