    What is the best, free way to prevent Viruses on a PC?

    Not looking to spend. But if there are ones that really are better that cost money, i will pay.

    Avast is really good though.

    Just whatever you do, don't even consider getting Norton or Kaspersky. I used to have Kaspersky and it was the biggest memory hog program I've EVER had. And Norton gives you more viruses than destroys/blocks them.

    I've been using Norton since day 1 and haven't had a single problem

    I've always used Microsoft Security Essentials, and most others I know always used AVG.
