I got mine a month ago for free off of craigslist! She did have fleas when I got her but that was a very easy treatment.

I've looked on craigslist but the cats for sale around my area are all like.. old.....
And when I do find some cute kitties, they never have their shots and it's so expensive to get them done!
The ones at big pet stores already have their shots, so I just want to be safe and buy one of those.

Even if they do need shots, google around and see if there's any non-for-profit organizations in your area that can do the shots based off of your income. That's what I did, cost 50 dollars to get all of her shots and to get her fixed.

My kitten grew up around 2 rats and a dog, so at this point she's a lot more curious about them rather than about eating them. I've never seen a dead bird or animal around our house and she won't eat anything other than her kibble. She's a bit strange, but my cat doesn't seem to be a murderer. xD

If you can, you should really try and get a kitten from a local shelter! There are so many that need homes in shelters you'd be doing a kind thing by adopting. I know sometimes shelters have an adoption fee, but usually they spay/neuter and vaccinate all the animals before they're put up for adoption. I actually got my cat because she was going to be put down for biting a small child, but she's the sweetest thing now.
