9 is correct. You work from right to left when the parts have the same priority, supposedly.
Two Casio calculators; both with a different answer, which one is correct?
(you need an account to see links)
Believe it or not, this has become a big debate at work

People are arguing PEMDAS; but they are saying the 2 (3) is multiplied first, because the 3 still has parenthesis. I agree with 9.
People read it as
__6__
2(1+2)

Well you do the parenthesis first.
Then you do the multiplication/division, but you go from left to right.
So you would divide the 6 by 2, then multiply that by 3 to get an answer of 9.
What's my definition of success?
Creating something no one else can
Being brave enough to dream big
Grindin' when you're told to just quit
Giving more when you got nothin' left
Right because there's not actually an equation in the parenthesis after you do 1+2 and number(number) is multiplication, so then you'd do the division and then the multiplication.
Calculators can be wrong! Who knew?

9 is correct! ;3
I would not have been able to figure that out LOL I haven't been in school for 5 years + smoked weed/did ecstasy and coke for most of my high school days. *bad brain*
9!!!! , maths was my worst subject lol. But I'll never forget BEDMAS

if you are arguing pemdas, than the answer is 1.
[9/3/12 11:11:58 PM] Joanna: sigh
[9/3/12 11:12:14 PM] Joanna: john
[9/3/12 11:12:16 PM] Joanna: is
[9/3/12 11:12:17 PM] Joanna: perfect
PEMDAS says 1 but PEMDAS is just a simple mnemonic.
Parentheses first - 2(1+2) = 2(3)
No exponents.
Multiplication and Division are both done in the same step prioritizing the leftmost operations... PEMDAS is a mnemonic, not a mathematical law.
So it would be:
Code:6/2(1+2) 6/2(3) 1+2=3 3(3) 6/2=3 9
