    Warn System?

Do we have one in place? It says something about it in the rules, but is that just sort of a PM from a mod as opposed to a proper warn that stays somewhere on your account? If we don't, I think we should.

Not to criticise the mods but I think some of the bans have seemed a little harsh and unforgiving from an outsider's point of view. I don't know if that's because the 'ban reason' bit is usually not very seriously written and we have no more information than we are given there. I understand people will say 'why don't you just ask' but no one wants to be pestering others over PM who probably have better things to do.

Also a lot of the people that contributed a lot to keeping the forum active have disappeared and that makes me sad. Especially because some of their ban reasons didn't seem like such big deals. Could we not have specific warns (percentages maybe, leading up to a perma-ban at 100%) for minor offences?

    Just an idea

Honestly, from the bottom of my heart it hurts to actually send out warnings.. which is why I rarely do it, and I'm almost positive the mods feel the same. Plus, who wants members disliking the staff just because they are doing their job?

Anyway, this topic isn't really necessary as we actually HAVE sent out warnings in the past, and we continue to do so. Should it be done more? Yes. Some (past) members have made it clear that a verbal warning is just not enough. Sorry, but we the staff would just like to keep the community clean from drama and trouble. Too many like to start trouble, which is why we have been letting members go in the past.

Ok, that's fair enough Sorry if I caused any offence, I didn't mean to.

Thanks for giving such a good explanation, I think I probably missed some of the trouble you're referring too which is why I wasn't really sure why I came back to find people banned.

Trouble's the last thing a forum needs

No worries. There has been a lot that has happened these past couple months. I guess you should have been around for it to really know what it was like.

The people that you're looking for wanted to be banned, so they were. That is all.

Thanks for the clarification. As an outsider I keep seeing posts by banned members and the posts/conversations really look like they were banned on a whim for no reason at all (because the posts are edited so you don't know what transpired). I'm sure other new member have/will read those posts and have the same thoughts. Personally I think a warning system would help a great deal because people can see what posts users got warned on and a mod can place a note as to why the user was warned. This educates others. i.e "oh I shouldn't do that" and shows that mods are being fair.

Still though I can totally respect if you feel the cons to a warning system outweigh the benefits. I'm just happy to be here.

*you could always go 4chan/b style and just put in all caps [USER WAS BANNED FOR THIS POST] so at least people can know why.
