How easy is it to get scammed on paypal?

someone wants to do a $300+ trade with me on another forum and I am very hesitant as I think I am going to get scammed.

What would you do in a situation such as this?

    Thanks

Very easy to get scammed. I'd suggest using something other than Paypal if you do not trust them, perhaps WU as a lot of people use that. I do believe the fees are a bit of a bummer on WU though.

If not WU and you want to get it to paypal (and you're over 18 xD) you can also try Moneypak.

If you do decide to use paypal, remember to send a ToS

I believe the ToS' give you a greater chance of winning the dispute

If they decide to dispute on Paypal, it will put more on your side as the seller.

I've never used it much, but I'm sure @(you need an account to see links) or someone with more experience can fill you in with that.

I use ToS with every sale via PayPal. I've never had an issue with it.
I even used a ToS with a sale with someone who turned out to be a scammer and they never CB'd me.

I have been told a ToS is against Paypals own ToS. Don't quote me on that, but I would suggest using WU.

When i paid someone $100 and they scammed me of the item, i actually had a ToS in their favor, but i still won the dispute when i charged back. I don't think they even tried to fight though. So even if you have a ToS... the buyer might still be able to win it. i'd stick with something else... ESP if it's that much money.

paypal kind of sucks with disputes. I would only accept payments from verified paypal accounts this way if someone tries to scam you it will mess up there entire account and also ban there bank account/credit card from paypal (they cant just make a new account). If the person is doing chargebacks on a account thats verified they would only be able to do it so many times before paypal realizes what they are doing.

It might also be worth placing a rule that on any order over $100 you will wait 48 hours before sending the item/account to the buyer. This way if they are using hacked paypal accounts someone will probably notice first.

Paypal have been a nightmare to deal with in my experience , everything is over the phone too. Forum feedback is a good measure of character don't feel the need to sell your items to the first person who comes along if they don't meet your requirements. If its a good item it will sell eventually.
