i think the egg came before the chicken because snakes were around way before chickens i think. so snakes give birth by popping an egg out!

The chicken. The theory of both creationism and evolution would support that chickens existed before the egg. People state "how was a chicken born without an egg" and it's really quite simple. Another species gradually evolved into what we consider a "chicken" after tens of thousands of years.

    Welcome to wikipedia.

    Does make you wonder though.
Aristotle also was not living in the age where the theory of evolution existed. Just as it is a possibility for humans to be born from neathenderthals, neanderthals from gorillas, gorillas from monkeys, monkeys from chipmunks, chipmunks from molecules, the reproductive system is a simple survival mechanism where in order to abstain from extinction, you reproduce. That system was created in order to survive. Saying the egg came first is like saying that the reproduction system came before the very first species need to survive. If that were true, then the egg would lay a species that would die immediately as it would not have adapted yet to reproduce.

a chicken is a bird, birds evolved from dinosaurs and dinosaurs laid eggs so the egg came millions of years before the chicken.

Yes but the theory "chicken or an egg" obviously refers to a chicken egg. A chicken existed before an egg specifically laying a chicken existed.
