Need help removing a virus manually from a mac. +rep to anyone who can help

what i would do if back everything up on a external hard drive and wipe it clean or locate where the file is and completely delete it what kinda virus?

also, i have VERY limited computer knowledge, so if i am going to do something like back it up and wipe it, i need someone who can fully walk me through it.

Need a little more information. Do you have an antivirus? If so is it detecting the virus? If it does detect the virus tell me what message pops up as the virus information. To my knowledge the only MAC infecting viruses that are popular are RAT's which are fairly simple to remove provided you can start your computer with only the bare necessities (a safe-mode for MAC) and run a virus scan that can detect the encryption of the virus.

Please provide me all the info you can.

yes but i did not realise you was on a mac :X I thought those things was immune to viruses.
