Clraik scratchcards?

They do basically just this, on other forums. The forum currency can buy things like avatar size, PM Inbox space, things that make your forum account nicer. I rather like the idea, but, who knows...?

While I would not mind contributing to the prize pool, the issue is the currency. You're trying to pay reputation points for scratchcards? That seems like the entirely wrong purpose of reputation and would cause multitudes of problems - IE, Some user ranks require x amount of rep. Paying rep for scratch cards = you can lose that rank or have that rank without the proper criteria.

It would also cause headaches due to rep abuse, people can suddenly give you free reputation which gives you more scratch cards etc etc. Until you work out a better idea with currency, I think this idea is not practical

Reputation isn't a currency... you don't get reputation from luck either (ie scratchcards)

There are a lot of people on the site who treat rep like a currency, or have done it in the past. Some sort of clraik activity is fun but I agree with the rep thing

Could create a extravaganza every week filled with prizes. Either sigs of the week, random contests, or other fun stuff. I wouldn't mind thinking of a contest every week or so and donating prizes for them (or if others could donate, write who the donors are etc. etc.) Scratch cards and other site-based contests could be fun but are a bit trifling. Forum currencies work for a little while, but I was steer away from them because once forum activity dies down, the currencies go with it. Should have something that can last indefinitely, but doesn't have to so that there's not alot of time/effort put down if the idea flops (IE something hardcoded in the clraik forums requires alot of downtime).
