    If you manually want to change your IP with that stuff you'd have to login to your modem first, then renew the IP lease, which will cause a loss of your connection for a moment, and it affects the entire household. Beside that some websites will warn you that an unknown IP address has logged on, which I'd consider annoying.
    She also probably wants to keep the same IP address for a legit main.

    Taking everything in consideration, I think one click hotspot shield is the better option here.

    1.) Neopets doesn't ban dynamic IP addresses
    2.) Usually modems automatically renew the lease if they detect new hardware connected e.g. a router
    3.) Most routers allow the spoofing of the hardware (MAC) address, easily done by changing a digit
    4.) Accomplished in usually under 5 minutes
