    Installing scripts in Tor Browser

    Hello everyone, I have been using tor browser for a little while now simply because of it's simplicity :3 It's basically firefox with a proxy already configured.

    Now I got greasemonkey installed as an addon in the tor browser, but I can't seem to get any scripts to install or run in it. I've tried manually uploading and running the script but that did not work either. I also tried disabling noscript form the browser with no success.

    Anyone have a work around? It's just something that has been on my mind and bugging my these past couple of days.

    Thanks in advance!

    Thank you for your hard work! I read that you can use vidalia with firefox by setting the manual proxy settings to the local host and that gives firefox the same IP the tor browser would have, and just load the scripts from there. It's pretty easy to just be able to click "use new identity" and get a new IP address. I am still wondering why scripts won't work in the tor browser though :|

    @Fitzy2008 Alright, I finally got this to work, essentially you need to manually install the script. Here's what you need to do:

    Right-click on the "install" button under the userscript page and "save as" to save the script.

    Next, go into Tor's folder and locate gm_scripts (Tor Browser>FirefoxPortable>Data>profile>g m_scripts)
    If there's no gm_scripts folder under profile, then create one.

    Next create a new text file and paste this into the body of it:

    <UserScriptConfig>
    <Script filename="changeme.user.js" name="script name" namespace="namespace" description="script description" enabled="true">
    <Include>http://change.me/*</Include>
    </Script>
    </UserScriptConfig>
    Change "changeme.user.js" to your script's name (e.g. "37568.user.js")
    Change script name to what you want it to be called in the greasemonkey viewer (e.g. "Neopets pwner thingy")
    don't forget the quotations, that's part of the syntax.

    Don't save this yet, open up your downloaded file using a text editor. (open up the blabla.user.js you downloaded)
    Now copy the web addresses after @include. You should see something similar to this:

    Paste those addresses over http://change.me.
    For each address you have, rap it in <include> tags.

    So for example, if in the script I used the included address was http://www.clraik.com and http://www.google.com, then my script would look like this:

    <UserScriptConfig>
    <Script filename="12345.user.js" name="script name" namespace="namespace" description="script description" enabled="true">
    <Include>http://www.clraik.com</Include>
    <Include>http://www.google.com</Include>
    </Script>
    </UserScriptConfig>
    Ok after all of that, save that text file as config.xml in the gm_scripts folder

    Finally, move the downloaded script into the gm_scripts folder as well.

    Exit out of the folder, boot up Tor and witness the magic

    If you noticed this is from July of 2012. Reviving any topic that is more than 3 months old is considered gravedigging and violates the rules here at Clraik. Since you are new here, I'd invite you to check out the rules here: clraik Official Rules

    Posting just to increase your post count is also against the rules and I don't think anything you've just posted would be considered a contribution to this discussion.
